GRE: Ergotelis-Panathinaikos

Konstantinou´s header boosted Panathinaikos to the first place!

ERGOTELIS-PANATHINAIKOS
Avg. Odds: 8.65-4.55-1.25

Ergotelis defeat at Ionikos was like a shot in the heart. The newly promoted side can only hope for a miracle to avoid relegation and the win over table-leaders Panathinaikos is a must for them. Having won Olympiakos in their home ground, they are determined to fight the same way. The question is whether Panathinaikos will let them hope that they can get anything out of this match.
As a matter of fact, Ergotelis´ win over Olympiakos was the only one they achieved in the last 11 rounds and they are currently on a 6-game losing streak. They are not facing any significant problems.

Panathinaikos comes from a crucial victory against Olympiakos last week. The 1-0 win pushed them in the top spot, leaving their hatred rival in the 3rd place. Following an impressive first half, where they could have scored a couple of goals more, they defended most of the time in the second half trying to hold on to their lead. They managed to take the 3 points and that is all that mattered for coach Malezani.
The Italian coach loves defensive tactics and is the kind of manager who believes that keeping a clean sheet is the key to success. Panathinaikos has not conceded a goal in the last 7 rounds and all of those matches ended Under 2.5 goals.
Midfielder Wouter is the only worth mentioning absence for the visitors, who will play with almost the same squad as last week. The Dutch midfielder will most likely be replaced by midfielder Konstantinidis or striker Papadopoulos.

No mistakes are allowed at this stage and Panathinaikos should make one step closer to the title. However I really like the odds for the Under 2.5 goals and knowing Malezani's principle I will take it as my main pick in this match.

*No recent history between the 2 teams.

GRE: Panionios-Iraklis

Panionios will welcome back 3 regular players for Saturday´s match.

Avg. Odds: 2.00-3.05-3.45

Both teams want the 3 points to fight for the sixth place that will give them an UEFA Cup ticket. You could say that Panionios is in a must-win situation, since they are 2 points below their opponents.
They got thrashed easily at Xanthi, as they did not manage to put up much resistance. There are some regular players returning for this game: their best striker Mantzios, midfielder Tziolis and goalkeeper Drobni. All of them are important players and coach Vazakas will be happy to have them back. On the other hand, Spyropoulos is suspended.

Iraklis was impressive last week. They whipped Kerkyra 5-1, playing very well in the second half and they are optimistic of taking a positive result in Athens. Their poor away record though is not something that could give them much confidence.
P. Kapetanos (F), Bakircioglou (M), Murati (M), Diamantidis (M) and Perperidis (D) are sidelined and it seems that the negative streak of 6 away games without a win will be hard to take an end on Saturday.

Panionios has the edge in this match and I think that they will emerge victorious.

GRE: Panathinaikos-Olympiakos

"No mercy for the losers!"

PANATHINAIKOS-OLYMPIAKOS
Avg. Odds: 2.40-2.95-2.85

I do not want to comment on this match, coz more than ever I am going to sound biased. This will be like a war!!!
What Figo suffered in his return to Camp Nou, after signing with Real Madrid, will seem like misdemeanors in comparison to what keeper Nikopolidis will face at his return to Leoforos!

GRE: AEK-PAOK

"A hot atmosphere at OAKA stadium..."

AEK-PAOK
Avg. Odds: 1.65-3.30-4.85

If it wasn´t for the big derby between Panathinaikos and Olympiakos, this would have been the match in the spotlight. When these two teams, AEK and PAOK, face each other, the fans are expecting to see an open match with lots of good chances for both teams. And they are usually satisfied by the picture of the game.
AEK is currently 3rd in the table, but they even find themselves in the top-spot if they win and the derby ends in a draw. Their fans are enthusiastic of that possibility, which is not a crazy scenario after all, and they will pack the stadium to cheer for their team. Defender Kontis is the only significant miss for Fernando Santos.

PAOK has been undefeated with coach Karageorgiou on the bench. They have won 5 of their last 6 matches (and were held to a draw once)! That amazing streak has boosted them in the 4th spot and they came to Athens full of confidence.
Defender Hasiotis and midfielder Vagelis are sidelined. But I do not think that they are a huge loss. PAOK is a team that loves to play with counter-attacks and I am sure that they can pose a big threat to the hosts.

GRE: Xanthi-Panionios

Xanthi will try to get back to victories!

XANTHI-PANIONIOS
Avg. Odds: 1.70-3.20-4.55

One point out of the last 3 matches is not something to be bragging about. It is clear that Xanthi is not playing according to the standard they had earlier in the season.
Without any missing players at all, they will be looking to get back to winnings and try to take advantage of a possible slip-up of PAOK in Athens to regain the 4th spot that they lost last week.

Panionios is in a good form lately, as they have only 1 defeat in the last 7 rounds. Coach Vazakas though is skeptical, because he will have to deal with some important problems.
Striker Mantzios has not recovered from his injury and he will miss this match as well. Panionios might have scored 3 goals without him at Kerkyra, yet Xanthi´s ground is way more difficult. Keeper Drobni is also out with an injury, while midfielder Tziolis is suspended.

GRE: OFI-Halkidona

Machlas is guiding OFI to success...

OFI-HALKIDONA
Avg. Odds: 1.90-3.05-3.80

OFI has the chance to narrow the gap between them and Halkidona. Should they win, they will find themselves 1 point below the visitors in the standings. Especially after the defeat of Egaleo at Kallithea, both teams will be fired up in their chase of the 6th spot.
Kounenakis (D) and Stavrakakis (M) are injured, while Hatzatrian (M) and Nwafor (F) are suspended. You might say that these are serious problems for the hosts, yet they cannot be compared to the ones of Halkidona.

The visitors are depleted due to injuries and suspensions. Midfielders Alzaher and Sotirhos, as well as defender Geladaris, are suspended. The injury list is lengthy: Simos (D), Mikes (D), Moyo (F) and a couple of reserve players are out!
Coach Paraschos will have to rely on strikers Zacharopoulos and Iliopoulos to get something out of this match. Yet, we are talking about 6 missing players that would normally find a place in the starting line-up. I do not think that Halkidona will be able to cope with these problems and OFI is strong at home.

GRE: Ionikos-Ergotelis

Oliver Makor is the hottest player of Ionikos at the moment.

IONIKOS-ERGOTELIS
Avg. Odds: 1.70-3.25-4.60

Ionikos played very well against Olympiakos last week, in a match that I watched on TV. Especially Oliver Makor was brilliant and he caused many problems to the table-leaders. With a win over Ergotelis, Ionikos will take a deep breath in their hard-fought battle to stay in the league.
Defender Ofrydopoulos will return to the squad and apart from King (D), who will be sidelined till the end of the season, there are no other worries for coach Vlahos.

Ergotelis has a new coach on the bench, Michalis Patemtzis. He is going to field an offensive formation in a last attempt to maintain their hopes for survival. However his task is pretty difficult.
Having lost 8 of their 11 away matches, they must try their best at Neapoli. Midfielders Slighting and Koiliaras are sidelined, yet there are alternative solutions to replace them.

GRE: Aris-Apollon Kalamarias

Sanjurjo is back for Aris!

ARIS-APOLLON KALAMARIAS
Avg. Odds: 1.60-3.35-5.05

A big match between 2 neighboring teams fighting to avoid relegation. Aris took a surprising draw against Panathinaikos at Leoforos, yet this match is far more important for them. The opponent is a team with the same aim in the season, which defeated them in the first round.
Hatzaras is happy to have back the influential midfielder Sanjurjo, who he is most likely going to take a place in the starting line-up. In addition, Nebegleras (M) and Naintos (D) are once again available for selection.

Kalamaria suffered a shocking home defeat last week, conceding 2 goals in injury time! In order to make up for their silly mistakes, they have to grab a positive result against their rivals.
Their coach claims that they will not sit back and defend the whole time and that they will try to score. It is true that he has managed to guide his team to crucial wins at Kerkyra and Iraklis, so I guess that we should not underestimate the visitors so much. Defender Nikolopoulos is suspended, while influential midfielder Haji returns to the squad.
